The Clutch Lever

The Clutch Lever (435) gives the Clutch Wheel a force when the winding knob is pulled out allowning the Clutch Wheel to change from the winding to the set position .

 

 
 

The mechanical watch is wound up in the winding position, with the winding knob pushed in. In this position the Clutch Wheel is pushed towards the right by the Clutch Lever, which in turn is pushed by the Set Spring (440), see the figure above.

 

 

  In the hand setting position, with the winding knob pulled out, the Set Lever gives the Clutch Lever a force, which in turn pushes the Clutch Wheel to the left. This movement disengages the Clutch Wheel from the Winding Pinion and instead engages the Set Wheel, see figure above.
